Additional Pool/Spa Information

Spa / Hot tub Usage

There are various reasons small children should not be in hot tubs, some are backed by scientific proof and others are risks that have been noted but not proven. Either way, the  following list should be carefully considered:

Small children  heat up faster than adults and hot tubs can increase body temperatures  to dangerous and even fatal levels in as little as five minutes. It is known that a fever of 104 can cause brain damage. Our hot tub is 104 degrees.

All hot tubs contain chemicals. All hot tubs, no matter how well maintained, contain a certain level of microorganisms which flourish in hot water. It is therefore very important for adults and  children to avoid getting the water in their eye, ears, or mouths due to  the risk of upper respiratory tract infections and illnesses.

Small children have limited bowel control and no diaper contains 100% of any waste material once it is wet. Because of this issue, our hot tub and pool becomes immediately contaminated and becomes a health risk for anyone else who uses it. Therefore, children in diapers are not allowed in the hot tub. Swim Diapers must be used on all children that are not  completely potty trained (not regular diapers).

There is some debate over the issue of high water temperatures and sterility issues in young males. While the evidence is still inconclusive, the risk should  be carefully considered until proven otherwise.

Every year, hundreds of children lose their lives in drowning accidents in pools and hot tubs. All children must be supervised by an Adult at all times when near water. It only takes a minute to  tragically alter a families lives by carelessness when horseplay and negligence is allowed in or near a hot tub or pool.

This campground does not allow children under the age of 14 in the hot tub, at any time, for these reasons and requires all children to be under adult supervision at all times. As a responsible adult, it is your job to explain to your children why these rules are posted around the pool area and to make sure they are followed.
